A/Prof Sherring graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, Sydney University in 1992 and immediately commenced full-time service in the Australian Regular Army, seeing Active Service in Rwanda in 1994/95. Subsequently he commenced training in Adelaide, graduating from Medicine and with a Clinical Doctorate in 2002 from the University of Adelaide.
He has been working in a mix of Public and Private Practice since 2004, centred on Southern and Southwest Sydney. He currently holds VMO appointments at St George/Sutherland Hospitals and Prince of Wales Hospital involving training of an OMS Registrar.
A/Prof Sherring has been an active member of ANZAOMS Council for the past 7 years, currently chairing the Medicolegal Committee, and was President in from 2017-2019. Since 2006 he has been involved as an Examiner or Co-ordinator of the SST or Final Examination (FRACDS(OMS)). In addition, A/Prof Sherring has completed a 2-year term on the Board of Studies, RACDS as a nominated ANZAOMS member. He continues as a member of the NSW Regional Surgical Committee.
A/Prof Sherring has obtained extensive experience both with ANZAOMS, the RACDS and various government bodies both prior to and subsequent to his registration as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
