Getting to Melbourne

Melbourne Airport is located approximately 24km from the Sofitel on Collins. There are a range of direct flights and low cost fares available so we encourage you to explore all the options available:

As this is a very popular time to visit Melbourne due to a number of competing events, early bookings are encouraged.   

Airport Transfers

Easy access is available from the airport to the city centre via bus and taxi. Please refer to the Melbourne Airport website for further information.

SkyBus

SkyBus offers a shuttle bus service from the airport to Melbourne CBD and city hotels. This service operates 24 hours, 7 days. Buses run every 10 minutes throughout the day and every 30-60 minutes overnight. Tickets can be purchased on arrival or online by visiting the SkyBus website.

Taxis

Taxis are available from the ground floor level of Melbourne Airport. The central business district is approximately 30 minutes from the International and Domestic Airport.

Getting around Melbourne

myki is the smart card ticketing system that has replaced Metcard in metropolitan Melbourne and paper tickets on buses in selected regional towns. It is an integrated system that works on trains, trams and buses.

Visitors packs can be purchased at any Seven Eleven convenience stores. You may purchase a ticket online in advance www.myki.com.au or for interstate and international guests, a myki visitor packs can be purchased from the PTV Hub at Southern Cross Station, the Melbourne Visitor Centre at Federation Square and the SkyBus terminals at Melbourne Airport and Southern Cross Station.The myki Visitor Pack includes:

  • A myki smartcard pre-loaded with enough value for one day’s Zone 1 travel
  • Instructions on how to use myki
  • An inner Melbourne tram map
  • A myki protective wallet designed by renowned cartoonist Mark Knight
  • Discounts at 15 attractions worth more than $130 in savings
The myki Visitor Pack is available for full fare, concession, child and senior visitors. A full fare myki Visitor Pack costs $14.00 including $8.00 myki money. A concession, child or seniors myki Visitor Pack costs $7.00, including $4.00 myki money.

Top up to myki cards can be made online or at a number of retail outlets displaying the myki sign including all Seven Eleven convenience stores.
